When we first released our double-knit Newbury Knitting Kit, makers were immediately drawn to not only the unique design but also the mid-century modern geometric pattern. Inspired to use this same geometric pattern in an easier double-knitting project, Carole created our Newbury Cowl. If you have never laid your hands on double-knit fabric, you are in for a treat! Double-knitting produces a very heavy fully reversible fabric, and when made with alpaca yarn, a fabric that is incredibly soft and extremely warm with beautiful drape. Our Newbury Cowl Knitting Kit uses both 100% alpaca yarn and 50% Alpaca/50% Wool yarn to provide comfort with shape holding capabilities. Available in three colorways. For a fun touch, this knitting kit comes packaged in our insulated black barrel-cooler bag.
Experience Level: Intermediate
Sizes: Cowl measures 23” in top and bottom circumference by 9 1/2” tall or 22” in top circumference, 23” in bottom circumference by 9 1/2” tall.
Materials Included: Approximately 220 yards of DK weight 100% alpaca yarn in the dark color and 200 yards DK weight 50% alpaca/50% wool yarn in the light color; Intermediate level pattern
Materials Required: Size 5 (3.75mm) circular knitting needles (16” or 24” long) and Size 4 (3.50mm) for narrower top circumference; five stitch markers; one BOR marker; row counter
Package: Black insulated barrel cooler bag.
Notes: This double-knit cowl is worked in the round and is a charted pattern
Garment Care: Hand wash in cool water with mild soap. Lay flat to dry.
